As a member of Cargill Feed & Nutrition, you will work as a key contributor to the management team. Working within one of our regions, you will make significant decisions that impact customers and your region’s profitability and will be challenged by immediate responsibility and extensive training. Although our headquarters are located in Hopkins, Minnesota; the Plant Manager opportunities are available throughout the United States. Locations will vary for this position; therefore you must be open to relocation, possibly multiple times throughout the training program.
The Plant Manager trainee program is a very comprehensive program which is separated into 3 different stages. Individuals in this role will be required to relocate between 2-3 times throughout the program. During the 1st stage, Plant Manager Trainees begin focusing on production management practices of the business. This will include: basic engineering design, inventory management, scheduling, quality control, customer service and cost management. Once this stage has been successfully completed, you will be asked to relocate to your 2nd location. During the 2nd stage of training, individuals move into a management role such as a Supervisor or Assistant Plant Manager. In these roles focus is placed on the day-to-day management of the business. Some of the responsibilities will include: maintaining a culture focused on safety, scheduling the production and delivery for the plant, managing assigned projects for the facility, and executing the month-end activities which would include the profit and loss report. Upon successful completion of stage 2; you will once again be asked to relocate. At this point you will begin your leadership role as a Plant Manager. Please note prior experience may expedite the overall training program for this role.
As a Plant Manager you will lead the facilities and the people to produce animal nutrition products as efficiently and as safely as possible while meeting all of Cargill Feed & Nutrition, corporate and government guidelines. This will include setting and maintaining a culture focused on safety, setting performance standards, establishing budgets, managing costs, hiring and training, employee relations and implementation of all maintenance and production programs and customer service excellence.

Bachelors Degree or equivalent
Demonstrated mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude
Ability to work effectively within a team
Ability to relocate, potentially multiple times
Must be able and willing to work from heights (i.e. ladders, catwalks, etc.)
and in an indoor/outdoor environment
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Previous supervisory/management experience - preferably in a manufacturing environment
