Coordinates compliance to ensure import and export transactions are completed within applicable government rules and requirements. Requires a thorough understanding of international freight and Customs requirements. Responsible for System maintenance of the Classification database of company products in accordance with import and export requirements: HTS, ECCN, license determination, and country of origin Assists with development and maintenance of Import/Export compliance program; including compliance manual(s), and auditing of processes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Will be assisting with continued development and implementation of a global compliance program, to include developing new processes/procedures.
Responsible for maintaining applicable information in company database for full 10 HTSUS classifications; ensuring information remains current. Coordinate information between brokers, vendors, engineers, purchasing, accounting, other Grote facilities and internal compliance team as needed.
Work with other departments to determine other US trade "special programs'; assist with establishing guidelines for those that would benefit the company.
Work with Customs brokers and freight forwarders to resolve import and export operational issues.
Carry out routine audits on import/export activity and ensure that all necessary process documentation and historical records are maintained, perform post entry audit of shipments. Document and maintain auditing of import/export activity and compliance records.
Will assist with the management and continued implementation of effective export compliance programs under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Ability to process all required export documentation for international shipments and review these shipments for any potential compliance issues.
Participate in import and export compliance projects as necessary.
Willing to attend training pertinent to job function on as needed basis.
To provide back up for Logistics administrator.
Perform tasks assigned by the Logistics manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Associates degree in related field required.
Skills and Qualifications:
Work experience in international trade activities related to global operations.
Extensive (2-4 years) Logistics experience.
Comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of import/export regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work within a team atmosphere as well as independently.
Must be proficient in use of personal computer, copier, scanner, fax machine.
