Position Available: Registration Clerk (Full time) Posting Period: 01/29 - 2/6/2013 or until filled
Location: Orange Mound Pay Range: $11.02 - $15.43 hourly
Reports to: Practice or Program Manager/Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Provides medical office assistance according to established policies and procedures; greets patients and responds to inquiries; obtains necessary information for accurate billing; ensures patients have information necessary for registration process, follow-up appointments, and future communications. May serve in the clinical area as needed
Specific Functions of Job:
Greets patients and facilitates completion of registration/insurance verification process. Establishes method of payment and collects co-payment (s), deductibles and payment for insurance and/or sliding fee according to established policies/procedures. Completes end of day reporting, performance audits and cash collection/reconciliation reports. Performs other duties as required including serving as backup to the telephone operators or other clerical or medical support functions (i.e. CMA)
Education : High school diploma.
Experience : Two to four years of clerical experience, preferably in ambulatory care, pediatrics and/or obstetrics. Previous billing and coding experience; previous phlebotomy experience; experience with autoclaves/sterilization preferred.
Licenses or Certifications : Certified Medical Assistant, CPR Certification required, Medical Billing & Coding Certificate preferred
Level 1 Requires some concentration and normal attention. Generally, once the job is learned, the tasks can be performed more or less automatically.
Level 2 Requires high periods of concentration intermittently and normal attention. Generally, even once the job is learned, tasks will require normal attention to deal with recurring variables.
Level 3 Requires a high level of concentration and high level of attention intermittently. Generally, the approach to tasks may be consistent, but the number of steps required and/or the number of variables involved creates the possibility of errors unless the incumbent pays close attention.

Maximum number of pounds required (with or without assistance): 15 - 65pounds
