What will I do at UA?

The Senior Design Manager, Accessories will be the senior leader for the Accessories Design teams. The Senior Design Manager will be an innovative thinker that will drive the forward looking global creative vision for Under Armour’s hard goods (gloves, equipment, protection, eyewear) and soft goods (headwear, bands, socks, bags, accessories). The position will set the standard for innovation and unique visual aesthetics that will define Under Armour Equipment and Accessories, and set them apart from the competition while establishing a cohesive look and feel that ties all categories together and clearly defines them as Under Armour. The position will manage an internal design team and be accountable for all design components within Accessories; product, placed graphics and industrial design.

The Seniore Design Manager is responsible for collaborating with business unit heads, design leads and merchants for all regions throughout the company leverage cross-departmental creativity to create integrated product offerings that are in line with Under Armour’s corporate merchandising plan and vision, empowering the business units to exceed aggressive revenue, market share and profitability objectives.

Manage and present seasonal collections to executives and cross-departmental teams

Manage design process and calendar to ensure team meets all key deadlines

Develop and create clear and detailed technical specifications

Drive and continually improve innovation in all categories

Build, inspire and mentor a diversified team of designers focused on creating innovative, brand-right, trend-right and fresh products across all end-uses

Analyze competitive landscape and user segmentation to develop a strong product roadmap

Work closely with the Equipment and Accessory business leads in creating business plans including range plans, line plans and creative briefs

Establish a strong, forward looking point of view on creative issues while maintaining an open mind for opinions and suggestions

Interact cross functionally with senior leadership in Design, Merchandising, Apparel, Footwear, Team Sports, Brand and other internal teams to ensure that the Brand is building a cohesive and strategic product strategy across all areas of the business

Identify and define potential business opportunities and collaborate with business leads to develop comprehensive business plans

Travel domestically and internationally approx. 2-3 times a year

Additional Skills and Experience:
The Senior Design Manager will be a global visionary. He/She will possess the ability to manage the rapidly growing Accessories division to the next level in design aesthetics, form and function.

Professional curiosity and a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in increasingly senior product design and management positions are required. The individual will have deep connection and design experience with performance products, sporting goods and/or accessory design.

The Senior Design Manager must have demonstrated the ability to create design solutions that meet consumer needs and also reflect an overall brand message and aesthetic in addition to acting as a change agent and entrepreneur. All these attributes should be evident through a proven track record of innovation and cutting edge design resulting in aggressive category growth.

The successful candidate will be an experienced leader who makes a strong personal presentation. The candidate must be able to create and communicate a clear, inspiring vision and translate that vision into a practical, results-focused action plan. Conversely, the successful candidate must also be able to define, construct, drive and build successful process and best practices.

Qualifications to be considered:
BA or BFA in Design required
