Director of Undergraduate Admissions

The Department of Admissions at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is seeking a candidate who will participate in the development of annual enrollment goals for the undergraduate programs; participate in the development of the undergraduate recruitment and conversion plan including prospect generation, advertising, high school/community college relations, and on and off campus events. Implements and evaluates the recruitment and conversion plan; participates in the development of all marketing materials; liaises with other departments as necessary. Hosts select recruitment events on and off campus; interviews and counsels prospective students; meets with management team to coordinate recruitment efforts; oversees the merit scholarship process. Plans and facilitates pre-season recruitment workshop for staff; establishes, monitors, and evaluates admissions standards for freshman and transfer students in conjunction with the Dean of Undergraduate Programs. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff. Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations; maintains an understanding of the latest trends in student recruitment; represents department in a variety of meetings/discussions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Mandatory Job Qualifications The successful candidate must have Master of Fine Arts degree or equivalent, 5-7 years of progressive admissions experience, demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, and strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Evening and weekend work, travel, and a valid driver’s license are required.
