The Palantir documentation team is looking for a tech savvy, multi-talented individual who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
As lead writer on the Gotham Docs team, you’ll evaluate our current docs offerings, and set a vision and direction for evolving the docset to support new, solutions-based products. You will provide guidance for the team, mentor new writers, plan and implement a content and media strategy, and collaborate with key groups (Support, Business Development, Training, and more) to create a dynamic information base for customers.
As a contributing writer, you’ll learn our analysis product and document it for our various customer audiences. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with peers in cross-functional product teams, producing high-quality documentation that meets internal style guide and internationalization guidelines, and keeping up with ongoing product changes.
Evaluate the current docset in terms of effectiveness, usability, visibility and use (traffic), scope, content, media, features, and identify what is missing, what works, and what doesn’t
Collaborate with the team to set vision and goals for a next-generation Palantir library and answer base
Lead brainstorm and research efforts to identify new options for documentation implementation and delivery (wikis, community/social media platforms, mobile help solutions, UI embedded context help, dynamic help and search solutions for plugins, technical blogs, and so on.)
Define plans for pilot projects and prototypes based on goals for new documentation features, and assign projects to writersLead help and documentation development and deliverables to support product release cycles (set schedules, project assignments, and monitor/guide the work)
Represent Docs Team goals, priorities, and interests in meetings and conversations with other groups, and serve as key point of contact
Help foster growth paths for contributing writers based on their own goals, and tap the imagination and energy of the team as a whole to create new, more useful product docs
Guide and monitor our technical infrastructure for delivering documentation, and work with docs build engineers to set requirements and goals for new models
Establish writing and topic organization style, along with strategies for keeping new and legacy documentation consistent with these guidelines (templates, peer reviews, checkpoints, automation, and so on.)
Excellent writing samples Strong writing background, exemplified by professional writing experience and/or BA or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, Technical Writing, or similar Experience with one or more of: community/social media platforms, wikis, mobile help solutions, blogs, knowledge bases, Support FAQs Ability to research and understand technical information from minimal written specifications Project management experience a plus Familiarity with HTML 5 a plus BS/MS or equivalent experience; Mathematics or Computer Science a plus Familiarity with Java or another object-oriented language (C++, C#); coding skills is a plus Experience documenting APIs or system architecture a plus
