The Senior Staff Engineer-Turbine Cooling Design will work with a variety of engineering organizations in the development of aircraft engines. In this role, you will apply detailed physics to model high pressure turbine flow path components and lead the design and analysis of aircraft engine blades, nozzles, and shroud cooling schemes. Develop and implement advanced cooling technologies in new product designs, support the production of these designs and resolve field issues as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
Provide leadership and technical direction to team members
Design and analyze airfoil cooling schemes to support the development and testing of aircraft engines
Employ different analytical techniques including CFD to support design choices
Participate as a member of cross-functional design teams for aircraft engine components
Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact
Apply detailed physics to analysis of high pressure turbine components
Plan and execute component and engine test programs and utilize the results to validate/update designs and analytical models
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data stakeholders using reports, records, and letters
Participate as presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company
Provide technical guidance, direction and training to new and experienced engineers, specialists, technicians and co-ops
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Minimum of 7 years of direct engineering experience in a turbomachinery heat transfer and cooling design position

Desired Characteristics
Master’s Degree in heat transfer
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
High level of computer proficiency
Proficiency in implementation of CFD techniques to design applications
Problem analysis and resolution skills
Demonstrated sound engineering judgment
Effective in contributing in a structured, cross-functional team work environment
Engineering experience in GE Aviation turbo-machinery design
Master’s Degree or PhD in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, or related intensive heat transfer and fluid mechanics field
Minimum of 10 years of specialized work in thermal fluid sciences
