The Manager Research Consultant is responsible for evaluating investment managers to identify those who are most capable of generating value for Mercer's client portfolios and presenting to clients the investment products we research and their prospects for medium to long-term performance relative to its risks. To fulfill this role, the Manager Research Consultant will:
Independently perform due diligence on investment management firms and their investment strategies through qualitative and quantitative analysis.
Make recommendations to and verbally follows up with clients based on due diligence in the form of Research notes, which is a written communication outlining the strengths and weaknesses of a given strategy and states Mercer's recommendation based on that research
Be responsible for conducting research, forming opinions, consulting various resources, and publishing papers for general consumption on current events and broad capital market issues including topics as global investing, non-traditional investments and asset allocation modeling
Provide guidance and peer review to Consultants on due diligence performed on investment management firms and the recommendations made to clients based on that due diligence and research
MBA, CFA or equivalent experience necessary
Five to ten years of experience in institutional investment management or consulting
Strong background in investment analysis, fixed income or portfolio management
Demonstrated analytical capabilities, excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to travel regularly to visit with managers and investment consultants located across the country
