Supervises full-cycle accounting processes as assigned, including more complex accounting activities associated with ProBuild’s operating locations and for developing financial statements, reports and reconciliations. Provides training and guidance to accounting staff and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for providing full scope accounting support to regional offices and/or corporate management. Assigns work to staff and senior accountants as appropriate to ensure adherence to month end and year end close cycles.
Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing concerns and resolving problems.
Identifies, develops and recommends accounting policies, processes, system enhancements, reporting, and communication needs. May lead and/or participate on project teams to implement selected recommendations in partnership with vendors and other internal departments
Participates and coordinates monthly/quarterly/annual closing cycles and financial statement preparation including preparing financial reports for lenders, investors and management.
Recommends and may implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting and records management. Partners with team members and other departments to formulate and implement system improvements and upgrades.
Prepares and performs analysis of advisory comments for discrepancies at various levels of consolidation on financial reports.
Provides technical expertise regarding special or new situations related to accounting processes. Ensures ERP systems are configured to accurately process accounting transactions and reports.
Presents analytical and trend analysis to management
Reviews balance sheet reconciliations and audit documentation, identifying errors and providing guidance for corrections and improvements.
Assists in annual audits through collection of information on general ledger accounts and coordination of accounting staff.
Provides functional advice and training to accounting staff.
Responds to information requests from regional offices and corporate management.
Participates or leads special projects as deemed necessary by management.
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Knowledge of cost accounting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Ability to compose effective and efficient accounting reports
Strong Microsoft Office skills as well as strong experience with ERP systems and their accounting relationships
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance and six (6) years accounting experience, including supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
