The OB Tech is responsible in assisting with maximizing patient flow by coordinating activities related to the L&D OR and by maintaining the L&D environment and supplies in a cost-efficient manner. In addition, the OB Tech participates in the delivery of patient care including direct operative and central sterile processing support services.
-Graduate of surgical technology program or
- Requires minimum High School Diploma or GED.
- Must also meet one of the following:
-at least one year Labor & Delivery surgical assistance work experience or
-currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school program and completed one clinical rotation
- Current surgical technician certification or eligibility to obtain within 90 days of hire required
- Ability to effectively speak, read, and write English. Basic spelling and arithmetic, and ability to understand and follow directions. Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the Medical Center are preferred. Ability to accurately interpret and utilize medical terminology and abbreviations. Ability to access and enter computerized data/information. Effective interpersonal skills to interact appropriately with patients, families, physicians, and other hospital staff in a dynamic and stressful environment. Organizational skills to effectively set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work. Physical ability to meet core job requirements in accordance with practice setting demands for the patient populations regularly served.
