The Allied Health Dermatopathology Histotechnologist is responsible for the performance of procedures according to established and approved protocols, which require the exercise of independent judgement and interpretation. The Histotechnologist performs procedures in routine histotechnology, special stains, and frozen sections, as well as instrument maintenance and quality control standards. Select gross tissue dissection may be performed under the supervision of the Medical Director. The Histotechnologist may be called upon to act in a supervisory capacity in the absence of supervisory personnel.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Certification by a minimum standards exam such as the American Society of Clinical pathologists HT(ASCP), or eligible to take such an exam. Candidates holding current certification preferred.
Knowledge in general biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry and Medical terminology.
Must qualify as able to perform high-complexity testing per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act.
Minimum of 0 to 1 year of experience in the Histology / Immunohistochemistry laboratory
