Performs scientific experiments, investigations, observations and related research studies into the nature and operation of natural phenomena in a particular field, using the scientific methods. Develops theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for the benefit of project advancement and emerging technologies. May participate in intellectual property evaluations and development of patent applications. May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
Specific Job Description:
Duties: Performs analysis applying appropriate scientific and engineering processes and modeling techniques to the life-cycle development of systems. Performs analysis and trade-off studies related to operational issues, and reviews test plans to ensure MOEs address operational requirements. Reviews plans for system integration, operation, and maintenance and assists in the development of training for operational personnel.
Education: Associates degree.
General Experience: Must have an education background or experience in performing analysis in the operations or research areas.
Specialized Experience: Must have an education background or required level of experience in operations or research analysis related to complex system development or acquisition employing scientific and engineering processes and modeling and simulation tools. Must have relevant experience in one of the following areas: biological, chemical, high explosive countermeasures, radiation/nuclear; borders and maritime security; critical infrastructure protection; emergency response; standards development and testing; threat vulnerability testing and assessment, public health support; planning and exercise development
