Job Summary/Basic Function
Responsible for technical support on instructional LAN and microcomputers. The incumbent is also responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all instructional microcomputers. Reports to the Executive Director of Computer and Technology Services.
1. Monitors and analyzes operation of computers. 2. Tests, diagnoses, isolates, and repairs problems in microcomputers, contacting the appropriate vendor for those under warranty. 3. Installs and maintains software for special request needs. 4. Performs and administers preventive and corrective maintenance programs for computers. 5. Responsible for the setup, configuration and logging of new instructional microcomputers. 6. Provides support for various microcomputer applications and periphery devices. 7. Maintains a working inventory of equipment and supplies, ordering when needed. 8. Performs other duties as assigned consistent with commonly accepted practices.
Associate degree or equivalent experience in computer technology or a related field with at least two years experience in microcomputer operations and microcomputer repair, and an in-depth knowledge of microcomputer utility software and application software such as operating systems, Windows, spreadsheet, databases, and word processing. Must be A+ Certified or be able to obtain this certification within 1 year of being employed in this position.
