Software Engineering Manager

The individual hired for this position will:
Manage a group of software engineers focused on high performance/high availability services in support of current products, and that form the basis for future products.
Lead and coordinate the activities/deliverables for multiple technical projects, including planning, estimating, scheduling, tracking & reporting, cross functional communication and managing dependencies to successful completion.
Provide direction, motivation, and career growth for the existing team, as well as recruiting and hiring open positions.
Meet with customers and cross functional groups to gather and document technical requirements.
Support field-deployed products, interacting heavily with other departments such as customer support, manufacturing, field service, sales, and, possibly, direct customer interaction, to prioritize bug fixes and resolve customer issues.
The candidate will have the following qualifications:
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Consistent track record of success in managing diverse (global) engineering teams (global) and leading multiple technical projects through the Software Development Life Cycle.
Good communication skills (both verbal and written) with customers, partners, and internal cross functional teams.
Experience developing and managing engineers on a variety of platforms, (Windows, Linux, Unix, C\C++, C#, Java) in complex product technology deployments (multi-threaded, asynchronous, distributed client/server systems, various protocols (TCP, UDP, RPC, etc…)).
A working understanding of Object Oriented methodologies and applied SW patterns.
7-10 years technical experience, 5+ years management experience, 5+ years technical project leadership.
US Citizen or permanent resident
Experience using J2EE, building High Availability Enterprise Applications
Systems level internals on Windows (NT, 2K, 2003) and/or Unix/Linux
Apache, JBoss, SQL Server, MySQL
Experience using Agile Methodologies such as SCRUM
Experience using Test Driven Development
