Craftsman 1 st Class (Mechanic) is responsible for the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of engines, compressors and all other equipment, and will take the lead role in overhauls, vehicle maintenance, and construction as well as other duties as assigned by management.

· Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy’s values, mission, and strategic business objectives
· Under the general guidance of area supervision craftsman will be responsible for operation and maintenance of high pressure natural gas engines, compressors, dehydration equipment, natural gas liquids removal plant and related facilities
· Will lead overhauls, construction projects, routine maintenance on compression equipment and vehicles, and related natural gas equipment
· Some travel may be required
· Lifting of 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds and various other physical activities in a variety of weather extremes and occasional exposure to various chemicals is required
· Position is required to ride four wheelers and snowmobiles occasionally
· Nature of the job requires the ability to respond to call outs, therefore, employee must live within 30 minutes of the Mainline #1 facility
· All duties must be performed in accordance with all OSHA, DOT, and NorthWestern Energy safety rules, policies and procedures
Must be able to demonstrate a good safety record
· Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills
· Must demonstrate knowledge through experience or training in the maintenance of gas compressors, dehydration equipment, NGL plants, and related equipment
· Employee must demonstrate the ability to learn complex compressor control systems, gas system operations and procedures.
· Must demonstrate the self-motivation required to work alone, as well as take direction and work well with others
· Must have safety awareness and a positive safety attitude
· Must possess a valid Montana Driver’s License to operate pick-ups, 4-wheelers and snowmobiles
· Successful applicant is required under DOT rules to drug testing
