Under the general direction of the Vice President Operation, CIO and the direct supervision of the Director, Clinical Engineering and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions:
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect patient care medical equipment and instrumentation. Documents the preventative maintenance, repairs and work activities in order to meet the Joint Commission requirements and department policies and procedures. Generates reports from database as required. Assists in the review/revision of IPM program documentation system, department policies/procedures and service contract reviews. Selects and requisitions needed parts. Support of computerized patient care equipment and systems. Responsible for the coordination of vendor repairs and documentation of vendor activities according to departmental policies and procedures. Provides assistance with new equipment technical evaluation and the implementation of new equipment. Provides assistance with the investigation of incident reports regarding equipment in area of responsibility. Maintains good communications; establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees, physicians, regulatory agencies, vendors and the public. Assists in the training of medical staff concerning the potential hazards of the equipment and proper equipment operation. Assists in the investigation of special application problems as directed. Assists in the training of co-workers including but not limited to equipment operation, repair, documentation and other areas of department operations. Participates in committee activities. Participates in appropriate role in fire and disaster drills, fires and other emergency situations. Exercises care in the operation and use of equipment and reference materials. Maintains work area in a clean and organized manner. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or directed.
Education: • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Biomedical Technology preferred; a combination of equivalent training and experience may be considered.
Experience: • Three years of biomedical technician experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification: • Valid driver’s license is required.
