  • SUMMARY: The Human Resources Assistant I serves as a backup to the HR Asst II in the maintenance of the Meditech database by performing those functions consistently processed by the HR Asst II. The HR Assistant I responsible for accuracy, efficiency and retrieval of processed data. Performs routine departmental processing of routine associate status changes and reporting and tracking as assigned. Provides support and assistance to other HR staff as well as responding to inquires and requests from other management staff in the organization. Responsibility exists for accuracy and timeliness of work to meet payroll and other mandated deadlines. Work requires occasional communication outside of the work group. Communication with external contacts involves handling complaints, making adjustment, corrections, etc. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Ascension Health Core Values, St. Agnes policies/procedures and applicable civil laws. Is accountable for efficient use of resources and support of the St. Agnes mission.

    Essential Functions:

    Serves as the main backup to the HR Asst II in the entry of new hire data into Meditech system, PAR processing and processing of terminations.

    Responsible for breakdown of termination files, tracking of files to be pulled due to termination for preparation for outsourced electronic file retention.

    Enters into Meditech all direct deposit changes, tax changes, address, name changes, etc.

    Completes employment verification forms. and serves as a back-pup for PIP and mortgage verification forms.

    Serves as a back up to the Customer Service Coordinator.

    Completes special projects as requested (I-9, YOE, etc. )

    Responsible for the maintenance of the file room and routine auditing for missing/mislocated files.

    Routinely monitors PPD Compliance, sends out 30 day advance notice to associate and manager, sends 2 week reminder to manager, suspends on the day that PPD is not completed. Follows-up to ensure that employee has not worked during suspension through monitoring of time and attendance system.

    Manages the tuition reimbursement and bus pass processing according to payroll schedule and departmental procedures.

    Complies with the standards of conduct and Corporate Responsibility Program and seeks guidance when in doubt.

    Meets or exceeds expectations of individuals for whom service is provided.

    Required Education: High School diploma or GED

    Required Experience: One to two years prior HR experience required. Preference given to HRIS experience.

    Computer: Basic Word processing and advanced spreadsheet skills are required. Preference given to prior experience with HRIS software, especially Meditech.
