POSITION SUMMARY

The Advanced Engineering (A.E.) group reports directly to Chief Technology Officer of the company. The team is a central focus for the creation of next generation system solutions utilizing the skills and efforts of the various company business units. The Advanced Controls and Simulation group is a key part of that team. The group leads and supports advanced projects in all areas of advanced powertrain. This includes base engine, drivetrain, thermal management, electrification and hybrid vehicles. The team acquires a detailed understanding of future engine system trends, invents new components and systems to support those trends, and builds and tests prototypes of those solutions.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITES
  • Lead advanced projects in the areas of simulation and control of various powertrain systems. Develop plans and manage technical development as well as do advanced controller design and analysis. Support the development of corresponding simulations.
  • Work with other areas of A.E. as well as the business units in the definition, execution and hand-off of projects
  • Develop new and innovative product and system solutions
  • Understand future trends in the areas of automotive electrification and controls
  • Participate and support other advanced groups’ technical development projects
  • Make presentations to customers and at conferences to promote BorgWarner
  • Work with end customers on joint programs and to understand future needs
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science in Systems, Electrical or Mechanical engineering
  • Masters Degree is preferred
  • 12 years of powertrain development related experience required
  • Experience with automotive electrical and controls systems
  • Experience managing technical product development projects
  • Experience in Advanced Engineering is preferred
  • Experience in 1D Engine Simulation and/or engine testing is a plus
