Responsible for the management of significant projects (e.g., strategic change management, new business and product initiatives, process re-engineering, establishment of control procedures) within this Infrastructure area. Sometimes referred to as the internal consultant, individuals typically work on multi-disciplinary projects and require a broad knowledge of the firm and its key functions. These projects necessitate full time commitment and are not undertaken by incumbents whose primary role is elsewhere. Strong quantitative, analytic, and project management skills are also required. Employs extensive professional expertise as a generalist or specialist. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of ingenuity and creativity. Work is accomplished without appreciable direction. Exerts considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Serves as the organization spokesperson on specialized projects or programs. Acts as counselor to top management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. College Degree or equivalent experience; advanced studies/degree preferred. Typically has 8-10 years related experience.
The Project Manager Tech Lead is responsible for infrastructure related activities ensuring their seamless integration throughout the lifecycle of a project. The Project Tech Lead will lead team members and contractors to achieve project objectives and customer requirements in support of IT.
The Project Manager Tech Lead works independently to initiate, lead, plan, implement, and coordinate all infrastructure related activities in support of application development project activities. This includes creating various project plans that will deliver the project objectives, managing the activities of the project team(s) thru a project schedule, foresee, plan, organize and control the resources necessary to effectively meet the project deliverables, manage the entire integration of infrastructure activities into the project and assure for the successful attainment of each and every goal set out at the onset of each project
The Project Manager Tech Lead deals with complex considerations on integration, risk, impact on systems, infrastructure components, and deals with multiple interfaces and dependencies to other IT Business Units within the company.
This includes the ability to clearly present information; read and interpret moderate to complex information; interact with customers or clients; listen well and work through others to obtain results.
Day to Day Activities:
A. Support the management and planning of all efforts associated with the projects to include: development and management of work plans, define and deliver individual project deliverables as a part of the overall program deliverables, manage the expectations of all stakeholders, organize and address emerging project requirements, manage project relationships and integrations, manage more than one project team in delivery of commitments, and communicate, manage tasks and activities to a schedule with the team
B. Develop and manage a set scope of work within the project to be delivered through effective expectations setting, communications, change management control, budget control and management, and overall business understanding of the project needs
C. Actively support the project management team-s efforts, to include: project plan, scope management, budget management, resource management, time management (activities, scheduling and task planning), communications, risk, procurement, testing, user training, program / project delivery, transition, maintenance and support management
D. Report project progress, issues, risks, thru a weekly status report to the Business Aligned PMO and all other stakeholders.
E. Lend support to various business and technology teams as necessary during project implementation to ensure solid, scalable, robust solutions
F. Communicate effectively in both verbal (i.e. day-to-day discussions, team meetings) and written (status reports, change requests) form, as well as have an overall ability to be clear and concise in all communications
G. Accurately assess the risks/issues associated with each project and systematically manage and report on project risks/issues
H. Conduct reviews of deliverables and attest on validity of SOX documentation
I. Ensure that the solutions meet all infrastructure requirements such as information security, performance, maintainability, scalability, and extensibility
J. Ensure that sound practices are taking place. Replace old processes with newer ones where feasible, and provides feedback for efficiencies
K. Effectively manage multiple priorities
L. Perform additional job-related duties as requested
Preferred candidates will meet the following criteria:
A. At least 14 years of recent progressive experience in Project Management lifecycle activities with emphasis in project planning, risk assessment, issue management, resource management estimating, monitoring costs, quality management and scheduling
B. Project management experience on large sized infrastructure projects supporting COTS deployment and custom development software projects
C. Strong understanding of the complete project development lifecycles from project inception through operations and maintenance with thorough understanding of underlying integration for technical infrastructure aspects
D. Detailed orientated with excellent problem-solving and problem-identifying skills
E. PMP Certification or equivalent is required
