Summary of Duties
Performs clerical and receptionist duties to facilitate the smooth functioning of the patient care unit. Provides support to nursing and physician staff in the TCH or TFG Emergency Department by performing tasks which assist in the treatment and care of patients with illness or injuries, following hospital policy. Coordinates communication within the department and other departments. Interviews and completes registration according to patient service, type, payer requirements and hospital policy. Collects co-pays and deductibles. Uses insurance verification system to obtain accurate insurance information. Under the direction and, following hospital policy. Transports specimens from Tuality Forest Grove ED to Tuality Hillsboro Laboratory. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager for shift activities. Or to the relief charge RN in the absence of Clinical Nurse Manager and is under the direct supervision and delegation responsibilities of the CNM.


HIRING COMPETENCIES - skills & experiences the applicant should bring to the job.
a) Education: High school diploma or equivalent required, and proof of diploma or transcript is required upon hire.
b) Certifications: American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, or required within 90 days of hire. Secure “No harm” Training required within 90 days.
CNA certification preferred.
c) Current Oregon Driver’s license and at least 4 years of holding a driver’s license and 2 years of driving experience required.No more than 1 accident or moving violation on or off the job within the past 12 months and no conviction for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUII) within the past 5 years.Current automobile accident insurance with coverage limits of $100,000/$300,000/$100,000 or combined $300,000 limits and name Tuality Healthcare as the “additional insured”.
d) Minimum one-year patient care experience in an acute care or pre-hospital setting preferred. Will consider military experience as medical personnel and/or senior clinical nursing student
e) Excellent customer service skills
f) Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, i.e.,EKG monitoring, bandage changes, splints, vital signs, casting, blood draws, point of care urine analysis, and appropriate charting.
g) Knowledge of basic care procedures.Must understand sterile techniques.
h) Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills
i) Ability to adapt to fluctuating workload, efficiently prioritize work, manage time, organize and problem solve.
j) Functions effectively in a stressful environment, ability to multitask and work with frequent interruptions.
k) Efficiently and consistently collects co-pays and deductibles.
l) Possess working knowledge of medical terminology and demonstrates basic math skills.
m) Able to access and accurately enter data into a computer as well as verify insurance information.
n) Bilingual Spanish helpful.
r) Presents a professional personal appearance that makes a good first impression

t) Provides a professional, welcoming environment for patients and their families.
