SUMMARY:
Provides in an atmosphere of Christian community, healthcare service that contributes to the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual well being of each person served.

Assists Director with coordinating and processing initial components of billing.

Greets and provides assistance to visitor and clients.

Performs data entry to include demographic information, charge entry and posting of payments.

Provides assistance and support to the Director of Physician Practice Management and to the Physicians to ensure efficient operation of the office.

Schedules patient appointments and diagnostic testing with the hospitals (eg. X-ray, MRI, mammogram, bone density, CT scan, lab work) and making referral appointments for patients per doctor's order.

Enhances communications between patient, office staff, and physician by the handling of telephone communications, requests for information, patient demographics, insurance carriers, verification, pre-certification and the processing of the patient record for efficiency as a medical legal document.

Ensures the confidentiality of patient information and performs whatever tasks are deemed appropriate based on patient needs.

Performs many administrative duties, including updating and filling patients' medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handling billing and bookkeeping.

Coordinates and processes all components of billing and collecting efforts.

Provides basic clinical assessments such as height, weight, and patient history.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

High school degree or equivalent required. Vocational school or business courses in secretarial science preferred

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications (e.g., Word and Excel) required.

Minimum of three years prior clerical/secretarial/clinical experience in a hospital or medical practice required.

Experience in medical records management, keyboarding, and data entry required.

Prior experience with medical billing preferred.
