WHAT ARE THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?
Receives and distributes, according to established procedures, incoming mail for the Claim Litigation Counsel Law Office
Processes outgoing mail
Maintains files and pulls files as requested or in accordance with established procedures and work flow
Performs other duties as assigned
WHAT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ARE NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION?
Types key data and text, via the terminal, to index client and law file records and sends routine messages to other locations
Maintains paper law office files (current and closed), assignments and work area well organized
Has basic understanding of local and state rules regarding pleadings and discovery formats, deadlines and filing requirements
Receives cross training in other Law Office support work and fills in for temporarily absent employees or during especially heavy workload periods
ITEMS OF NOTE
Basic knowledge of legal terminology and law office procedures and work flows
Basic knowledge of applicable postal rules and regulations
Must attend programs or schools designed by the Claim Litigation Section of the Corporate Law Department
Position requires bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting objects typically weighing no more than 25 pounds
