The Weitz Company is looking for an experienced Accounting Supervisor to be located out of our Guam Office .
The Accounting Supervisor provides accounting oversight on multiple construction projects and handles general accounting responsibilities for the location. The Accounting Supervisor collaborates with the Controller to maintain the accounting functions according to legal and financial standards. Typically, this individual reports directly to the Controller, but may report to the Vice President of Finance and Accounting.
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each previously stated duty satisfactorily. Therequirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and ability necessary to succeed as an Accounting Supervisor :
All assigned projects are completed with strict adherence to Company accounting guidelines; all production is accurate and timely. Month-end tasks are managed within the time frame allowed.
Successfully completes challenging accounting assignments, including, but not limited to, implementation of specified procedures.
Assist Controller with maintaining accounting functions.
Identify and recommend process changes that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes. Promote and support continuous improvement within staff as well.
Effectively leads accounting team in projects and consistently meets organizational expectations and measures.
Education: A Bachelor degree in business or related field required.
Experience: Six years of accounting experience; which includes two years of direct supervisory experience and two years of construction experience, required.
Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, proficient with a 10-key calculator by touch.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and an applied knowledge of computer accounting applications is required. Good oral and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work well with people. Discretion is necessary in working with sensitive and confidential information. Ability to establish priorities, the forethought to know when to seek assistance, independent judgment, and a flexible work style; the ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of different personalities and work styles. Individual operates with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
