A variety of immunological techniques, including ELISAs, molecular biology, primary cell culture, flow cytometry and in vitro / in vivo assays of primary immune cell function will be used.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be asked to:
  • Create functional assays for the detection of inflammatory biomarkers.
  • Participate in studies of cytokine signaling and contribution to inflammatory diseases.
  • Independently design and execute research.
  • Contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
  • Participate in the development of patent applications.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will be encouraged to seek independent funding from government granting agencies

Requirements:
Candidates must have a PhD in Immunology or a related field. Candidate must have experience in molecular immunology, antibody development, and signaling pathways. Knowledge of animal models of inflammation and/or molecular aspects of immunology would be an advantage. Expertise with basic bioinformatics tools is required. The ideal candidate has expertise demonstrated by publications, the ability to organize and write scientific papers and reports, and to present results in professional settings. Incumbent must be observant, detail-oriented, motivated and clear thinking, and must demonstrate excellent oral and written communications skills.

About This Division

SRI International is a leader in the development of new products for the treatment and diagnosis of disease, primarily in the areas of cancer, infectious disease, neuroscience, and immunology. SRI's Biosciences Division works in several ways, conducting basic research like an academic institution, performing drug discovery and biologic development like a biotechnology company, and carrying out preclinical development and pharmaceutical services like a contract research organization -- from Idea to IND (tm).

The Biosciences Division works with partners and clients on a broad range of preclinical discovery and development projects, utilizing its expertise in medicinal chemistry, custom organic synthesis, efficacy pharmacology and safety evaluation, pharmacokinetics and metabolism studies, analytical chemistry, formulation design, drug product manufacturing, project management and regulatory affairs. Many studies are conducted under FDA's GLP and GMP regulations. SRI has several drugs on the market, several more in clinical trials, half a dozen in preclinical development, and has assisted in the development of more than 130 other products that made it to clinical trials or reached the market.
