The University of Maine College Success Programs seek a qualified candidate to fill a faculty position at the rank of Instructor in Developmental Mathematics. This is an academic-year, three-quarter time, non tenure-track position, and the majority of time will be spent on teaching duties, tutoring and mentoring students in mathematics outside of class, and advising.
Responsibilities and Duties: Teach 3-4 courses/sections per semester in the Onward Program. Advise Program undergraduates in their programs of study and aid them in the registration process. Work closely with the Department of Mathematics to coordinate the teaching of MAT 111. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for advising and aiding students. Participate in the Orientation Week activities. Begin the week prior to the start of the fall semester.
Qualifications: Masters in Mathematics or closely related field required by date of hire. Successful experience in teaching college-level and pre-college level Mathematics required. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Experience in teaching with a developmental approach preferred. Experience in teaching and advising adults preferred. Experience in using technology, such as online tutorials, tablet pc preferred.
