Civil & Environmental Engineering Department

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA) seeks a tenured or tenure-track Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor in Water Resources Engineering to start August 2012 or as soon thereafter as possible. All water resources research areas will be considered but preference will be given to candidates with primary research interests in surface/ ground water hydrology/ hydraulics, hydrologic applications of remote sensing, sustainability of water resources, and the effects of climate change on water resources.
The successful candidate must be able to support the teaching mission of the Department and build/sustain an internationally recognized, externally funded research program while fostering collaboration with other faculty.
The candidate will be expected to develop and teach innovative courses, supervise graduate students, obtain funding for their research, and communicate research results in quality journals and at conferences.
Candidates whose expertise facilitates interactions with the other departments within the College of Engineering and the university are especially encouraged to apply.

Job Requirements

Tenure-track Assistant Professor:
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or closely related area with a specialization in water resources from an accredited institution. A record of peer-reviewed publications. Strong potential for building a successful, internationally recognized, externally funded research program.

Preferred Qualifications: Be a registered professional engineer or qualify to register within a short period of time. Participate in professional and technical societies.

Tenured or Tenure-track Associate Professor:
Required Qualifications: In addition to those above, a good record of peer-reviewed publications, and recent experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and supervising graduate students. Demonstrated successful grant activity, evidence of a successful research program, and an outstanding teaching record at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications: Be a registered professional engineer or qualify to register within a short period of time. Leadership in professional and technical societies.

Tenured Full Professor:
In addition to the qualifications for Associate Professor,

Required Qualifications: In addition to those above, an outstanding record of peer-reviewed publications, a well established and well funded research program with national/international prominence and evidence of providing leadership to junior faculty.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in managing a multi-faceted inter-disciplinary research program. Be a registered professional engineer or qualify to register within a short period of time. Leadership in professional and technical societies.
