Job Title: BI Architect (Microstrategy)
Location: New Castle, DE
Partner with the BI solution architect to create the strategy, architecture, design and integration of the user interface environment. This user interface environment includes reporting, analytics, portal, information delivery and workflow automation. Creates and maintains the BI user interface standards and guidelines and mentors the team to ensure the understanding and use of these standards and guidelines. Assists in BI development and performance tuning.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the BI Solution Architect to create the overall BI user interface architecture strategy.
Implement MicroStrategy solutions with full consideration of infrastructure capability, performance, and supportability and desired business results.
Works with the business to design the BI user interface solutions and leads the BI developers in these efforts.
Assist with the Metadata management of all projects and coordination of deployments between disparate development teams.
Establish the guidelines and standards for development, maintenance, and documentation of MicroStrategy reports and dashboards.
Establish best practice recommendations and mentor and provide direction to other team members to follow these practices.
Analyzes the user requirements to recommend the appropriate style of reporting or user application solution and oversees the design, build and testing of these solutions.
Provide the QA function to the BI development.
Work closely with the BI Data Architect on foundational projects such as security, relational data mart strategy and master data strategy for business analytics.
Participates in the evaluation and recommends selection of BI user interface technologies.
Participate in the performance testing and tuning for user applications.
Works with the BI Solution Architect and BI Application Analyst to install, configure and test the software tool set for the BI user interfaces. Support growth planning and configuration changes.
Works with the BI Application Analyst to implement vendor BI software patches and updates.
Analyze the user requirements to ensure that the BI solutions meet the user needs.
Develop and execute test plans to check the BI technical performance and tuning.
Ensures the appropriate level of documentation and communication of BI processes is in place.
Provide support and technical guidance to the BI team for implementing complex BI fixes and enhancements to the Data Warehouse.
Maintain effective user and IT relationships in order to provide a climate receptive to systems improvement and to enhance understanding of the user’s business concerns.
Provide input to IT managers on performance of IT personnel to assist in performance, evaluations, career development, and recognition.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
8+ years of experience in Information Technology with 5+ years in Business Intelligence.
Extensive experience with Business Intelligence life cycles.
Extensive experience in delivering Business Intelligence initiatives including comprehensive knowledge of the MicroStrategy tool suite (I-Server, Architect, Desktop, Web, VisualInsight, Distribution Services, OLAP Services and Report Services).
Strong knowledge of best practices in the areas of layout, navigation, browser-compatibility, usability and accessibility.
Experience working on strategy projects in the Enterprise Information Management, Reporting and Data Management space.
Extensive experience with BI user reporting and analysis tools and the overall user experience.
Experience leveraging data from a range of EIM data modeling techniques.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Working knowledge in source system analysis and data quality analysis.
Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required.
Highly proficient in data warehouse tools and technologies including MicroStrategy visualization tools.
Extensive knowledge of data warehousing concepts, terminology and architecture.
Working knowledge of an agile environment including creating of automated build, testing, integration and data refresh processes.
Knowledge and experience with Information processing principles and practices including testing and source control.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
