Major/Essential Duties of Job

Total responsibility for the management of the TIGM Colony, to include: setting up timed matings and checking for matings, harvesting mouse reproductive tissues for embryo isolation, weaning and sexing of mice, performing mouse tail clips, maintenance of transgenic and knockout mice lines, preparing mice for shipment, keeping computer records of events in the colony.

Required Education:
B.S. degree in relevant field or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Education:
B.S. degree in relevant field.

Required Experience:
Five years experience in mouse colony management and mouse transgenic work.

Preferred Experience:
Management of mouse colonies including superovulation, timed mating, vasectomy, weaning, fostering, and identifying mice by ear tagging. Transgenic core skills such as cryopreservation of mouse embryos, pronuclear and blastocyst injections and embryo transfers for the production of genetically modified mice.

Required special knowledge, abilities, and skills:
Familiarity with appropriate laboratory, and/or technical equipment. Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.
