IT System Engineer Data Center
As a member of the global ESIT Service Operations team the System Engineer will be an all-rounder in the System Administration field. The main focus of the role is the operation of R&D data centers including application servers, compute servers, storage, and virtualization. The candidate is part of a global team and will implement global standards, procedures, and other infrastructure necessary to support the user community in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
The responsibilities of the IT System Engineer will include but not be limited to:
-Applying advanced troubleshooting to data center software/hardware issues
oInstallation, operation and configuration of compute farm components (Unix focus): compute servers, login servers, terminal servers, storage systems (NetApp Filer), application servers and load sharing facility (LSF)
-Driving continuous improvement efforts to meet data center health goals, as well as emerging capacity and performance needs
-Representing local requirements to global, cross-functional, and cross-site teams. Interacts with end users, IT partners, system architects, and service and support teams worldwide
-Ramp-up of new data center hardware from purchasing to go live
-Acting as contact person for infrastructure topics and provide guidance on IT policies to end users
-Handling of IT tickets, e.g. account creation, access management, system configuration, enhanced trouble shooting
-System monitoring and handling of deviations and alerts
-Coordination of incident and service request management provided by 3rd party vendors
-Hands-on support and trouble shooting in data center environment including replacement of HDD and memory upgrades

Candidates should posses a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years experience or a Master's with 2+ years experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related fields.
3+ years working experience in a data center environment
3+ years working experience in Linux server administration (Suse/Ubuntu/RedHat) (familiarity with LDAP)
1+ year working experience basic engineering skills in Windows server administration
-Proficient in Microsoft Office
-Experience with configuration management systems would be an added advantage
-Experience in High Performance Computing would be an added advantage
-Familiarity with storage concepts and technologies (NAS) would be an added advantage
