L-3 Communications in Camden, New Jersey is looking for an experienced Unit Manager for its Systems Engineering group. Primary duty will be to ensure the technical and cost performance of their Systems Engineering (SE) direct reports and that the defined systems engineering process is continuously improving and being followed by all engineers on their staff. The Unit Manager, Systems Engineering (UM SE) will also assist in the formulation of the systems engineering approaches for tasks assigned to their direct reports by the Technical Director on a program. The UM SE will be responsible for monitoring direct reports to ensure continuing adherence to systems engineering processes and approaches on a program. The UM SE shall ensure that their staff is productive and efficient in their work through technical reviews of their efforts. The UM SE will also be responsible for career counseling for each individual with performance evaluations throughout the year. The UM SE will prepare and administer performance reviews for those individuals on their staff.
The focus of the SE UM is primarily leadership and management. The UM SE will be asked at times to perform direct contract work as time permits.
L-3 Communication Systems-East is located on the waterfront directly across the river from Philadelphia's Penn's Landing. It is in the direct proximity of the New Jersey Aquarium, Campbell's Field, the Susquehanna Bank Center and Rutgers University. L-3 Communication Systems- East develops Information Assurance and ISR products, integrated Communication Systems for Naval and Coast Guard ships for both domestic and international markets and Unattended Ground Sensor Systems. As a leader in C4ISR technologies, CSE develops state of the art technologies for secure space, civil space, aviation and ground products as well as systems integration.
The candidate must have a complete understanding of the systems engineering process from systems concept phase through systems test.
Candidate must be adept at: Functional Analysis, Requirements Allocation & Traceability, Trade-off Studies, System Synthesis and System Evaluation (Integration & Verification Testing).
Candidate must be able to work through customer requirements to technical requirements to product solutions.
An understanding of Functional and Allocated baselines in addition to Top-Level and Detailed Level Design approaches is required.
Candidate must have interest and demonstrated ability leading and developing people and processes and a working knowledge of any standard system engineering process including: MIL-STD-499, EIA-632, IEEE 1220 or ISO 15288. Strong verbal, written, and people development skills are required.
Engineering leadership experience is desired.
Must have experience in developing solutions for integrated communications for maritime interior and exterior communications systems.
U.S. Citizen. Bachelors Degree in an engineering discipline, Masters desired. 10+ years Systems Engineering experience. Active Security Clearance required (DOD Secret minimum).
