During one or more contract engagements will be responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of complex and cross-functional project oriented work efforts on one or more potential contract engagements. Will execute high quality strategic projects which directly impact financial performance related to: Customer focus, Sales & revenue generation & Cost reduction through productivity efficiencies..Direct accountability for a portfolio of projects of up to $12M directly related to a defined functional business area including overall delivery of scope within the defined delivery timeframe and in accordance to project budget.
Manage and mentor a team of senior project managers (FTE and Contractor) including career development and performance management in direct and matrixed structures.
Manage appropriate resources to ensure that projects are completed within committed delivery timeframe, defined scope, at or under budget and integrated with other dependent projects.
Provide measurement and cost savings support (development, reporting, validation and improvement), and execute strategies to improve effectiveness.
Work with Senior Director to develop the project portfolio and budget; accountable for financial results.
Actively participate in portfolio development and collaboratively drive the development of the strategic portfolio in partnership with both business and technology partners.
Deliver appropriate strategic portfolio governance and deliver transparency in status reporting to drive execution.
In partnership with the business, define program road maps/release schedules for strategic and baseline initiatives.
Ensure the development of business cases/cost benefit analysis which reflect project benefits and metrics while ensuring linkages to the financial plan.
Provide leadership relative to strategic and tactical initiatives that have a significant business/technical impact and ensure long-term competitiveness of business processes.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert in project/program management and financial line of sight; monitor industry trends, and introduce new ideas to CIGNA..
5+ years of project/program management experience.
BS degree, Masters preferred.
Six Sigma and/or PMI training preferred.
Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects on time and at or under budget.
Exemplary Project Management skills including scope management, capacity planning, project scheduling and tracking documents.
Strong financial acumen, proven ability to connect the linkages of the project results to the financial and business benefits.
Executive presentation skills, and ability to communicate with all levels.
Persuasive, collaborative business acumen with the ability to drive the business strategically and influence others.
Proven ability to manage local and co-located matrix and direct resources.
Track record of populating teams with the best talent, successful resource allocation, and motivating team performance.
In depth knowledge of systems, the software development life cycle, Business Process Re-engineering (BPR), and change management.
Must be available on a contractual basis.
