Build and manage high performance scientific computing cluster and petabytes of storage

Build and manage general operations compute environment

Monitor and troubleshot issues with the computing environment

Linux systems administration

Deliver robust and scalable infrastructure to support a high performance scientific computing environment

Develop scalable and cost effective framework for storing andcomputing over Petabytes of genomics data

Develop rigorous monitoring and reporting systems for computing infrastructure

Develop and implement requirements for data security and for meeting regulatory standards

Share on-call responsibilities

Develop strong cross-functional relationships with the R&D and Operations teams

A minimum of 7 years of experience in Linux/Unix systems administration in a high performance computing environment operating over big data with a track record of delivering high quality, scalable, reliable, cost-effective infrastructure both in research and commercial production environment

Strong Knowledge of Unix, C++, Ruby, PHP, Python, Perl, Java, JavaScript, R or similar languages.

Strong knowledge of Linux operating system, including file systems, RAID, security, daemons, package management, networking and performance.

Strong knowledge of job scheduling systems such as SGE and PBS

Experience with administering Clustered Web Application servers, CentOS / RedHat Linux, Apache, Tomcat, MS Windows Servers

Experience with administering MySQL (performance tuning/backup/restore/replication/recovery), PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server

Experience with administering SSO, LDAP (Active Directory, OpenLDAP), and DNS

Experience with managing switches (e.g. Cisco, Extreme Networks) and firewalls/UTMs (e.g. Fortinet, Juniper, Checkpoint)

Strong desire to work in a demanding, high-energy, hands-on startup environment

Experiences in these areas are a plus:
Experience planning and execution of server virtualization, load balancing and disaster recovery

Experience with implementing large scale HIPAA compliant data systems

Experience architecting and deploying cloud-based computing infrastructure

Experience with configuration management tools like puppet, cfengine, etc.

Experience with monitoring solutions like Nagios, Cacti, etc.

Understanding of parallel computing architectures including SIMD, SMP, GPGPUs, to MPI and MapReduce

Knowledge of genomics

Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field
