The Patient Service Representative (PSR) works in a team environment to efficiently process patient demographic and health information into the practice management system. The PSR creates a positive experience for the patient and family members by addressing their environmental and age-dependent personal needs. They support efficient clinic flow and communicate accurately and positively with team members. The PSR schedules appointments,handles multiple telephone lines and politely and effectively places calls on hold and returns calls on clinic standards, collects all patient responsible balances at time of service, maintains patient confidentiality and follows guidelines for HIPPA's regulations.
Maintains a well-organized, neat work area including the waiting area, files incoming medical reports and correspondence in the appropriate medical record location, assembles new patient medical records in accordance with policies and procedures, balances daily and financial activities, and effectively operates office equipment. High school graduate or GED equivalent required. Knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding, cashiering, collections and billing. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with co-workers, providers and patients.
Must have a pleasant, neat, and poised demeanor as well as a customer service oriented attitude/behavior. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to multi-task. Basic computer skills required with ability to learn department specific programs.
