The Manager of Product Development will have a team of Specialists responsible for the
development, sourcing and production aspects of the creative and manufacturing process. The team
manages the communication between merchandising, overseas import agent, factories, design team and
the vendor community. The fundamental responsibility for the PD Manager is to train, develop and oversee
the daily duties of the PD Specialists which include the sourcing of overseas factories and products, the
development and manufacturing process and time-lines to achieve targeted in-store dates, costs, retails,
GMROI, quality, and perceived value.
*Identifies and interprets trend in conjunction with managing the sourcing strategy for all
assigned product category. Ensures that each Product Development Specialist has executed
their sourcing strategy for key items, fashion and new products by reviewing goals for each item/
assortment including target retail, gross margin, quantity, packaging, promotional and marketing
opportunities while evaluating the entire planned life cycle through the exit strategy.
*Travels domestically and internationally as needed to accomplish trend, sourcing and overall
product development responsibilities. Works directly with sourcing agent to identify strategic
sources for specific items/assortments and monitor the production process through to shipment.
*Develop the team of PD Specialists on both written and verbal communication skills. Oversee
their day to day responsibilities and continue their development and understanding of trend,
product development and all financial aspects of the business.
*Assist the PD Specialist as needed in the development of appropriate key items and product
Assortments to present to the buying team utilizing existing and new resources.
*Evaluate market trends to seek out future trends, determine price/value comparisons and make
recommendations to the buying teams based upon findings. Possess a thorough comprehension
of raw material costing with strong negotiation skills and a good understanding of overseas
*Responsible for awareness and resolution of any sourcing, development, production, and/or
other related issues that will affect the product delivery.
*Collaborate with the design team the timely communication of artwork and design sourcing to both
internal and external resources to ensure consistency in regards to color, theme and style.
*Analyze monthly, quarterly and year end metrics. Develop and distribute reporting to PD team,
buying team, upper management and sourcing agent which identify accomplishments, opportunities,
and future goals.
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Product Development, Fashion Merchandising, Business, or related field.
Minimum: 6+ years in Merchandising including Product Development and International Sourcing &
Production. International travel experience is a must. Experienced managing a team of three
to 8 individuals and working with senior management. Creative passion for trends and fashion

Knowledge of international logistics and related process, Photo Shop, MS Office programs (Word, Excel,
Access, PowerPoint), JPEG, communication, design savvy, and a sense for color.
