The Inn at Virginia Tech invites applicants to apply for the position of Conference Planning Manager. This position will be responsible for the planning and coordination of all hotel conference events to include, special events, social events and day meeting packages. Plans the lodging and food and beverages to coordinate with the event based on the client's requests. Ensures that all events meet the highest level of industry standards, flow smoothly and are successful. Provides oral and written correspondence and advice to other hotel departments to allow them to prepare for proper staffing levels and equipment needed to ensure guests satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will have experience with event planning, special event design, delivery and follow-up; experience working with vendors and contracted services. Experience using a variety of computer software to include, Word, Excel and hotel space management programs. Must have the ability to work with executive level administrators, business executives, all levels of university and hotel officials and supporters; must be willing to assist in any efforts needed to ensure a quality experience for all hotel and conference guests. Must have strong organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations and or Hospitality & Tourism Management or related experience in hospitality industry, sales or event planning; experience with Delphi space management systems. Prior experience managing budgets.
