This position will be based in Wilsonville, OR at our Perceptive Pixel location.

The MSCIS Sustaining Product Engineering (SPE) team is looking for a Senior Product Engineer. The SPE team is responsible for sustaining Microsoft’s innovative consumer electronic products, including Xbox 360, Surface, PPI Multi-Touch Displays and Kinect, in volume manufacturing. This team is the go to group for error reproduction, complex product failure characterization, root cause analysis, test yield improvement, test plan creation and driving effective product improvements. This includes understanding factory failures, customer returns as well as reliability failures. The PSE team partners with the development, manufacturing, test engineering and quality teams to improve the cost of manufacture as well as the overall quality of the product. This is a senior level position that will require the candidate to be recognized as the product expert in manufacturing test and collaborate with members across the manufacturing, Product Development, System Architecture, Quality and Supply Chain organizations to deliver innovative and valued results the will ensure our hardware products continue to delight our customers and meet volume manufacturing cost and quality goals.

The successful candidate understands the architectural, design implementation and test concepts of computer systems, has a thorough understanding of system design verification requirements and ensures that they are met before the product is released to manufacturing. The candidate must be skilled in a wide range of activities from designing experiments, performing root cause analysis to managing multiple technical activities at outsourced global contract manufacturers.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in:
- Circuit concepts and standard board design practices.
- Capacitive touch display design and manufacturing.
- Manufacturing test flows, plans and negative path testing to ensure product quality.
- Debugging failure modes and performing root cause analysis of electronic products.
- Bench evaluation and bring-up of consumer products.
- Mentoring a team of electrical engineers in the interaction of architecture, design, test and manufacturing.
- Demonstrating understanding of the problem and solutions through the analysis, review and debug of new and existing systems.
- Independently performing characterization, data analysis, providing conclusions and generating actionable reports.
- Both common and more complex test equipment and methodologies in use.
- Developing system level diagnostics from system verification environments and deploying tools and debug guides for high volume manufacturing environments.
- Understands entire product development and manufacturing processes related to high volume consumer electronics.

- BS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred).
- A solid understanding of core engineering principles (electrical, mechanical, materials), circuit design and analysis are required.
- Eight to ten years of experience of designing, implementing, or validating hardware products of medium to high complexity.
- Understands entire product development and manufacturing processes related to high volume consumer electronics.
- Familiarity with PC, embedded system architectures hardware and software is a significant plus.
- Knowledge of typical PC interfaces such as SATA, PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, HDMI, etc.
- Strong communication skills and must be able to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms.
- Some overseas travel will be required.
