PERSONNEL ASSISTANT II

PORT HUENEME, CA

The candidate shall provide pay and personnel support services to PSD/CSD, to include the following: Update, inquire, and process personnel and disbursing actions through Navy Standard Integrated Personnel System (NSIPS) and Defense MILPAY Office Database (DMO) in Port Hueneme, CA.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Utilize DOD Pay and Allowances Entitlements Manual (DODPM); Navy Pay and Personnel Procedures Manuel (PAYPERSMAN); NAVSO P3050

Determine process and follow-up on active duty pay entitlement actions requiring numerous different and unrelated procedures

Review pay accounts and service records to discover and correct irregularities. Review and complete pay entitlement documents/actions necessary to update a service member’s pay account.

Review pay accounts prior to service member’s separation for correct entitlements

Review documents for completeness, accuracy and legality.

Promptly and accurately compute military pay and allowance.

Ensure required documents are mailed to Defense Finance Accounting Service – Cleveland (DFAS-CL).

Resolve pay record and personnel record problems to include reconstruction and post-audit reconciliation.

Review for correctness all disbursing affected documents of pay information

Assist in performing auditing work on various pay actions (ie, back pay claims, recent pay problems, etc)

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must be able to meet and maintain all requirements of this contract/task

WORK HOURS

0730 – 1600 Monday thru Friday

PLACE OF PERFORMANCE

Personnel Support Detachment (PSD), Building 1169, 2600 Dodson Street, Naval Base Ventura, CA

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is carried out in a climate-controlled office space. Work is primarily sedentary but may require personnel to stand and otherwise perform light physical activity as necessary to carry out administrative mission operations.

SECURITY CLEARANCE

Requires access to personally identifiable information (PII) and information protected by the Privacy Act of 1974. Contractors must meet security requirements under SECNAV M-5510.30 and must undergo National Agency Check, Local Agency Check and Local Credit Check (NACLC) investigation at a minimum.
