ITD/Contracts & Specifications
Work Location: 1655 W. Jackson, Phoenix, AZ

Position Description: Ensures assigned projects adhere to project requirements, including coordination activities and project schedules. Supervises all activities for researching, preparing and reviewing all cost estimates and special provisions. Reviews plans, specifications and estimates for work done by staff and/or consultants, and prepares them to be biddable, awardable and constructible. Monitors project development and organizational procedures, processes and activities for consistency and continuity. Prepares contract documents on complex projects and others as needed. Supervises development and maintenance of databases and generation of reports. Participates in identifying and implementing process improvements, and developing related performance measurements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
*Principles and practices of civil engineering as applied to highway design, development and construction.
*Relevant federal and state laws and regulations.
*Standard specifications,
*Estimating procedures and contractor practices.
*Common computer applications software, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Skills in:
*Supervisory experience.
*Managing programs effectively.
*Written and oral communication.
*Make decisions.
*Reading and interpreting roadway construction plans.

Ability to:
*Effectively delegate work/tasks and associated responsibilities.

*Requirements: Registration as a Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering or a closely related field in the State of Arizona, or proof of eligibility for reciprocity in the State of Arizona.

Ideal Candidate: BS degree in Civil Engineering and two years of engineering experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer I, to include supervisory experience.

Note: This position requires possession of a valid Arizona Class D Driver License. Candidates for this position must complete and sign the Driver Form on page 6 of the State of Arizona Application for Employment at the time of the interview, which will allow ADOT to obtain the candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The most recent
39-month period shown on the MVR will be reviewed in accordance with A.A.C. R2-10-207.12 (H) and (l). The review must show an acceptable driving record prior to any offer of employment being made by ADOT. Employment is contingent upon an acceptable MVR.

RETIREMENT: This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

ASRS enrollment will become effective after 27 weeks of employment, if not already an ASRS member at the time of hire.
