THIS IS A PROJECT POSITION:
This is a "Project" function designed to support project work for a duration of an indeterminate period of time, currently anticipated to be 3 - 5 years based on business needs at the present time. However, this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future. This position has a defined employment start and termination date which carries certain Benefit Limitations (i.e., no separation benefits). Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities. During the final year of the limited duration assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.
The Communications Generalist / Consultant will work closely with senior leadership in Delivery Projects & Construction in order to develop and implement communications strategies for senior leaders that support the strategic objectives of the organization. Initiate, develop and execute proactive marketing communications and media relations plans that effectively promote Delivery Projects & Construction initiatives. Collaborate with internal teams and partners to gather requirements and develop effective communications strategies. Support a highly structured effort to cascade and reinforce messages with the right tools and most effective communication channels for each audience segment. Consult, counsel, and develop strategies with leadership to understand, develop and implement effective communications. Recognize issues, proposes and recommends new initiatives or events to address issues or situations. Conduct research and utilize knowledge of latest communications technologies and tools, including Social Media, to execute communications strategies and in the development, writing, and editing of presentations, messages and speeches. Supports relationships with the news media, including print, radio and TV. Develops talking points and Q&A information to prepare leaders to respond to the press. Builds relationships with partners and clients, and leverages those relationships to ensure effective delivery of communications products.
•Bachelor’s degree preferably in communications
•Minimum –1 - 4 years’ experience in corporate communications, journalism, or related experience
•Superior customer focus
•Working knowledge of MS Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel
•Awareness of social media and its application to business communication
•General familiarity with creative processes (layout, photography, print production)

•Experience writing and editing.
•Experience producing press releases, talking points, op-eds, letters to the editor and position papers.
•Understanding of business processes and vernacular.
