All Seminole teams are highly competitive at the NCAA Division I level. In 2012-13, all of FSU†s teams competed as a team or sent student-athletes to post-season competition. A member of the Atlantic Coast Conference, FSU teams captured five ACC Championships in 2012-13. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Athletics has direct responsibility for the University†s NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics program. The Director supervises a full and part-time staff of approximately 260 people and manages an annual budget of $75M. The Director also provides leadership and represents FSU in its responsibilities as a NCAA Division I participant and a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The position reports directly to the President and is a member of the President†s Cabinet. Specific Duties and Responsibilities include: Direct all aspects of the Intercollegiate Athletics Program including:
•Hiring and evaluating staff;
•Overseeing and directing the budget;
•Developing, implementing, and managing a strategic vision for the Athletics program;
•Marketing and promotions;
•Fund raising and alumni affairs;
•Planning, scheduling, and managing events;
•Coordinating facility use and development;
•Overseeing academic support program for student-athletes;
•Representing the University in matters relating to athletics;
•Compliance with the laws, policies, rules and regulations governing Florida State University and its employees, as well as the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
