The UNLV Department of Foreign Languages invites applications for a full-time, renewable Lecturer of Japanese to begin August 2013 to coordinate the Japanese language program and teach undergraduate courses as needed.

This position requires a M.A. from a regionally accredited college or university in Japanese Language Pedagogy in hand with a minimum of 10 years' experience in teaching elementary to advanced Japanese language courses at the university level. Candidates should also have a minimum of 7 years' experience in coordinating undergraduate Japanese language programs, supervising part-time instructors, and developing teaching materials. At least a near-native command of Japanese and English is required. Knowledge of multi-media methodologies and a commitment to international education is important. Knowledge of second-language acquisition as well as bilingual education with proven record of presentations at professional meetings is desirable.

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
