Senior Database Administrator

is responsible for installation, configuration, optimization, security, audit, and ongoing support of the SQL Server infrastructure at CEB. Troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to production problems. The Sr. DBA will work with other DBAs, architecture, application development and operations teams to help build and configure SQL Server environment that meets current and future business objectives. The primary business objective is to improve the reliability and performance of CEB's database environments. This position will report to DBA manager and will work along with other Sr. DBAs on the team.

Key Responsibilities

Administration and management of SQL Server environments.

Troubleshooting and root cause analysis on all database related issues and tracking them to resolution.

Creating and maintaining security scheme for the database environments.

Work with application team and own the physical implementation of the database design.

Proactive monitoring of databases from a performance and capacity management perspective and the identification of problem areas.

Maintains operational documentation on the database environments supported by the DBA team.

Formulating contingency plans for database recovery in the event of a disaster.


Bachelor Degree Required

4+ years of related experience in SQL server administration and support of enterprise level environments

Experience with SQL server 2005, 2008 and 2012 in a multi node cluster environment

Experience with SQL server Integration services, Analysis Services and Reporting Services

Experience handling and managing both OLTP and OLAP databases in a multi node cluster environment with sizes greater than 500 GB

Strong understanding of advanced database features such as SQL clustering, database encryption, replication, database mirroring, and log shipping

Experience in performance tuning and query optimization

Excellent knowledge of SQL server storage architecture, logging and recovery models and Index internals and management

Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, and connectivity issues

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal clients, vendors and technology partners

Demonstrated ability to problem solve, organize and handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
