Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced software engineer to join a 3rd tier Linux support team. The team is responsible for support of Debian Linux distributions, manageability software, and support utilities across a broad range of HP servers. This team typically gets involved with highly complex technical issues, so strong Unix/Linux debugging and analytical skills are a necessity.
In addition to problem solving, the candidate is also expected to interact with broader HP support and engineering organizations, HP partners, and the open source community. In particular, this position will own responsibility for build and release for multiple versions of Linux kernel, Debian user space, and HP management utilities. The successful candidate will need experience with complex source code management environments, Debian packaging utilities and conventions, and Python scripting.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Must Possess
o BS in computer Science or equivalent, and five years operating system development experience.
o Ability to drive assignments from design to implementation
o Knowledge of Linux internals, drivers, software stacks and solutions
o Familiarity with Debian packaging utilities and conventions
o Python scripting experience
o Familiarity with complex source code management environments, such as Subversion and git
o Strong problem solving and debugging experience
o Produces results under time constraints.
o Strong commitment to teamwork
o Demonstrates effective presentation, facilitation, and communication skills (written & verbal).
o Experience with manageability technologies, especially SNMP
Desired Skills
o Experience with Linux networking protocols
o Experience participating in open source projects
o Demonstrates planning and organization skills for managing multiple, simultaneous delivery priorities
o Hands-on experience with multiple Linux distributions
