The AA will provide general scientific applications support and linux systems administration support to end users. Supported applications will likely include scripting (python, perl, bash) and scientific applications such as Matlab, R, SPSS, SAS, etc. The RA will also provide additional support to research computing initiatives as needed.
Examples of Duties: Install and configure linux on end-user workstations.
Assist users with installation and use of scientific applications.
Help create online presence for the research computing group (design, content entry, etc).
Familiarity with the Linux operating system, preferably Debian or RedHat or derivatives.
Experience with at least one scripting language (python, perl, bash).
Experience with at least one high-level language helpful.
Prior high performance computing experience a plus.
Must be a matriculating UMass Boston Graduate student.
