The position of the site Trade/Export Compliance Specialist requires significant experience in working knowledge of all relevant export and import regulations as well as general knowledge of the sites activities.
With guidance of the SBU Trade Compliance Manager (TCM), this person is responsible for the following:
Instituting and managing an efficient and effective Trade Compliance Program within MCS Troy consistent with the MCS SBU and Meggitt group programs.
Maintaining a working knowledge of all applicable regulations including those of the United States.
Interfacing with SBU TCM regarding current and pending compliance regulation initiatives and legislation that may affect company business.
Maintaining contacts with government regulators, as appropriate, subject to coordination with the SBU TCM.
Provide management level interface with SBU TCM and site functions to provide guidance on current and future trade regulatory requirements as they relate to site business plans and future products.
Supervising, managing, and maintaining Trade Compliance at the site, providing day-to-day Trade compliance support for export and import activities.
Support SBU management in various business initiatives such as product transfer and development of agreements.
Participate as directed by SBU TCM in various initiatives such as SAP implementation.
Ensuring that all applicable products are classified for export and import in accordance with regulations of the United States.
Using group web-based tools for the site Trade Compliance activities, as appropriate.
Producing, reviewing, analyzing and publishing Trade Compliance process measurement for the site.
Develop an annual action plan, consistent with the SBU Trade Compliance annual action plan, specifying the objectives of the Trade Compliance function for the site.
Ensuring that the procedures related to trade regulations and reporting requirements are in place for all appropriate areas of responsibility and [personnel at the site.
Maintaining a Trade Compliance Training Program at the site keeping with SBU requirements and consistent within the Meggitt Group programs.
Maintaining Trade Compliance Recordkeeping at the sit in keeping with SBU requirements and consistent with Meggitt Control Programs.
Ensuring that information is provided to SBU TCM to ensure various registrations with government agencies are kept up to date as required by regulations.
Determining licenses and license exceptions or exemptions, as appropriate, for all transactions referred to the SBU TCM, and proactively establishing terms of export and import licenses that meet compliance requirements and organizational needs.
Exercising authority as “US Empowered Official” for the site.
For transactions referred to the SBY TCM, releasing export compliance-related holds on shipments after all Trade Compliance requirements are satisfied.
Submitting to SBU TCM for approval information related to transaction s requiring review by PLC Management, including Meggitt USA Inc., General Counsel and Meggitt PLC Legal Counsel, as applicable.
Adhering to Group process to ensure export transaction screening (i.e. national, supra-national, and international restricted or denied party lists.)
Adapting Group trade Compliance assessments and guidelines and audit checklists to site requirements to ensure adherence to Group compliance policies and procedures.
Arranging, Managing, and participating in site internal audits in liaison with Regional TCM.
Ensuring access to current regulatory and compliance information for all site employees with export and import process involvement.
Conducting fact finding of potential non-compliances (“matters under review) at the site.
Required Skills
Successful candidates will possess a minimum 4 year degree in a related discipline and/or significant experience in Trade/Export Compliance role.
