Major/Essential Duties of Job

Receives supervision only in terms of specific work objectives and critical issues as determined by the project director, Principal Investigator, or higher-level research personnel. May supervise the work of graduate or undergraduate students. Responsible for complex or unusual research, consortia and engineering assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Develops and performs engineering research and development requiring special qualifications or attainment, with wide latitude for independent action and decision. Assists in the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and reporting the detailed phases of research/consortia development projects. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Oversees and assists in the preparation of specifications. Assumes responsibility for acceptance or rejection of the results achieved. Prepares or assists in the preparation of reports and other publications (e.g., journal or trade articles). Presents or assists in the presentation of research/consortia results at technical meetings or other venues. Performs related duties as required. The nature of the duties are such that they require a thorough knowledge of an advanced type in a field of engineering, are predominantly intellectual and varied in character, and require consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. An individual with this title WILL NOT be eligible to serve as a Principal Investigator (PI).

Minimum Education

Requires a Master of Science degree in engineering or related field or an accredited Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.

Work Experience (Months/Years) and Skills Required

4 years related work experience with a Master of Science degree or 6 years related work experience with a Bachelor of Science or equivalent.

Preferred Experience and Education

Focus on Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering/Operations Research or Industrial Distribution. Work experience in supply chain field demonstrating problem solving and data analysis skills. Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification a plus. Advanced MS Access (proficient in writing SQL queries and in VBA programming); advanced MS Excel (proficient in spreadsheet manipulation including V-look ups, piviot tables, graphs, calculations, general data management and VBA programming; Detailed oriented with good numericanalytical skills; excellent interpersonal skills to work in a TEAM environment; strong communication and presentation skills and ability to work in fast paced environment to meet deadlines under pressure.
