Job Responsibilities:
Provides direct and indirect respiratory services that are safe, aseptic, preventive and restorative to the patient.

Direct and indirect respiratory services of pharmacological and medical gases agents related to respiratory procedures upon implementing a treatment, disease prevention or pulmonary rehab regimen program prescribed by the physician.

Administers aerosols, oxygen humidification, ABG's, continuous ventilation, airway management, bedside spirometry, EKG's.

Uses aseptic and sterile procedures correctly with all instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.

Transcription and implementation of written and verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practices of respiratory service...

Performs Point of Care (POC) blood gas testing under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory. Complies with CLIA regulations regarding POC testing.

Respects all patients' rights and privacy. .

Implementation of respiratory protocols defined by department and medical director and any changes thereto by written or verbal orders of physician.

Provides supervision, preceptor training and proper liaison to all professional staff.

Understands basic anatomy, medical terminology and procedures.

Acts as patient advocate.

Identifies and communicates staff, physician and patient needs.

Contributes to utilization, maintenance and evaluation of equipment/supplies.

Participates in department call.

Participates in unit based CQI program.

Completes department specific competencies during orientation and annually.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate of a Respiratory Therapy Program with an Associate Degree.

Previous of 2 years experience necessary in a critical care setting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Registered Respiratory Therapist or eligible.

CPR, required

ACLS, required

PALS, preferred
