The Editorial Manager, Basal Digital Content works as part of the Curriculum and Content team to produce text and print materials for Discovery Education's basal and digital products. The individual is responsible for ensuring editorial quality and consistency of basal content, as well as conceptualizing and creating state-specific text and print solutions in support of basal/textbook adoption efforts. The individual will work with internal employees and external vendors, creating various assets for educator and student audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity in the application of Discovery Education’s editorial style across all content
  • Serve as liaison to multiple teams and provide updates on the status of development projects, as well as gather and communicate key content statistics
  • Work with external vendors to execute basal content development tasks
  • Lead internal indirect reports to execute content development tasks
  • Field content questions and concerns from internal and external parties
  • Create, further develop, and maintain the accuracy of metadata for content assets
  • Aid in supervising development and/or provisioning of, as well as delivery of, various content assets (video, audio, images, text) for educator and student audiences
  • Research, review, and recommend content and features for Discovery Education’s products
  • Support other Curriculum and Content Development projects as needed


  • Requirements:

    * 5+ years experience in educational multimedia content development with a respected company serving schools, libraries, and/or universities

    * Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Education, English); Master’s degree a plus

    * Exceptional proficiency in writing, grammar, and spelling and familiarity with style manuals ( The Chicago Manual of Style )

    * Strong proficiency in use of multiple types of software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop)

    * Strong level of comfort with complex content management systems

    * Excellent organizational skills and exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

    * Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with vendors, indirect reports, and multiple internal teams in geographically dispersed offices

    * In-depth knowledge of the K-12 educational marketplace, including available content, product types, and trends

    * Must have the legal right to work in the United States
