POSITION SUMMARY Under minimal supervision, provides leadership in clinical and professional practice utilizing the nursing process, to provide care to all patients and support staff. Provides supervision, coordination and solves administrative problems within the operations of all Hospital Services-including, but not limited to: Patient Flow, Clinical Staffing, Regulatory Issues, Disaster Response, Employee Health, Risk Management, Safety, Security, Helpdesk, Patient Representative, Social Services/Nutrition Services/Physician Relations and Human Resources on a shift basis for Boulder Community Hospital.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education or Formal Training

  • Completion of a nursing education program that satisfies the licensing requirements of the Colorado State Board of Nursing for Registered Nurses
  • BSN-Required


  • Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification
  • Colorado State RN Licensure
  • Donor Alliance Certification
  • Must obtain Colorado Notary Public Certification within the conditional period in the position.


  • Knowledge, Skill and Ability
  • Knowledge of good clinical practices, regulatory requirements and TJC standards.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of customer service as it applies to patients, staff and the community.
  • Knowledge of safety principles and infection prevention.
  • Ability to assist in identifying ways to promote quality care.
  • Demonstrates leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels and in crosses functional environments.
  • Knowledge of standards, policies and procedures of Boulder Community Hospital.
  • Ability to assess patients’ needs and coordinate proper nursing care.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in selecting proper treatment.
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Experience
  • Previous Administrative Resource Nurse experience preferred.
  • Critical Care or ED experience preferred.
  • 3 years of professional in-patient nursing experience preferred.

  • Environmental conditions may include, but are not limited to, variations in temperature, noise, odors, multi-stimuli, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk. The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
  • The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds, support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
  • Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching. The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.

  • SUPERVISORY DUTIES
  • Directs activities of all hospital staff.
  • Acts as role model, coach, mentor and resource to staff.
