Description:
The IT Security Engineer will be part of the NASA GSFC Mission Security Team. The IT Security Engineer role is technical and analytical role who will support the identification, mitigation, and remediation of cyber threats to NASA Mission IT resources. This position is for a key member of an experienced and successful cyber operations team located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. The candidate must be an experienced IT Security professional with excellent interpersonal communication skills to interact in this customer-facing position.
Job duties to include:
Identifying IT Security vulnerabilities and weaknesses in systems including windows, UNIX/Linux, Cisco, and Juniper.
Work with System Administrators to fix and remediate vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
Work with System Administrators and Developers to implement secure application development principles
Incident response support with documenting incidents, findings, mitigations, audits and compliance
Patch management and cyber threat management support
Verify availability, confidentiality and integrity security controls on systems
Qualifications:Mandatory:
UNIX/Linux system administrator experience >5yrs
BS degree in Security or IT related field mandatory
Desired
CISSP certification
Intrusion Detection and Incident Response experience
Penetration testing experience with Metasploit
Vulnerability scanning tools experience such as Nessus
Network pcap traffic analysis with tcpdump and wireshark
NIST SP800-53 experience
NASA experience
